I just had one of the most eye-opening conversations on the Marketing Minds Podcast with Andy Audate – and I had to break it down for you in this week’s Newsletter because the insights are too good not to share.
Andy is one of the foremost experts on HighLevel. To put it in perspective, he has over 1,200 customers on his white label & services more than 15,000 sub-accounts through his agency, GHL Engine. The guy has literally seen it all when it comes to what works (and what doesn’t) in the world of SaaS, CRMs & AI-powered marketing.
As a Reminder, Our Goal with this Newsletter is to Give You the Highest Level of Value Possible. That’s my Promise to you & I intend to Over-Deliver!

Be the Bridge, Not the Taxi Driver
This was hands down my favorite insight from the entire conversation – and I think it applies to WAY more than just HighLevel.
Andy made a point that stopped me in my tracks:
“If you are today a service provider where you do services on top of the platform, you will be abolished. There will be no need for you.”
Now that sounds dramatic, but hear him out. AI is closing the knowledge gap FAST. The reason clients pay $3,000 for a funnel build or $5,000 for an email sequence right now is because they don’t yet know how easy AI tools (like HighLevel’s AI Studio) have made it to do these things themselves.
That gap is shrinking every single day.
So what’s the solution? Become the bridge.
Andy used the perfect analogy here – think about Uber vs the Taxi Driver:
-
The taxi driver says “I’m the value here, pay me $15 for this ride!”
-
Uber says “I’ll just connect you to the driver (or now, the autonomous vehicle) & take a cut every time.”
Who’s thriving long-term? Uber. Every time.
The same principle applies to your business:
-
The Service Provider = The Taxi Driver (fighting to sell each individual service)
-
The Bridge = Uber (connecting your clients to the technology & getting paid every month they use it)
HighLevel positioned itself so that YOU can be the Uber. You can white label the platform, put your brand on it, and your customers pay you directly to access the latest AI tools – every single month.
That’s the shift I want you to think about this week.
Why Recurring Revenue is Everything
Andy shared one of the best illustrations of recurring revenue I’ve ever heard:
Think about your cell phone bill. People will move states, move countries, change jobs – but they will NOT cancel their cell phone. Why? Because it’s the nucleus of their life.
For a small business, the equivalent is their CRM. It’s where their contacts live, where invoices get sent, where emails & texts go out from, where their landing pages are hosted. Lose the CRM, lose the business.
That’s why white-labeling a CRM like HighLevel is such a powerful business model – once a client is on the platform & using it, they’re not going anywhere.
Andy shared a story that drove this home for me. He had a client who had been paying $397/month to use his white-labeled version of HighLevel. Over 4 years, that client paid him over $19,000 – and Andy spoke to them maybe once every 2 years.
Meanwhile, that same client asked about a $5,000 website build. Andy sent the invoice, never followed up, and the client eventually said “never mind, I’ll just use Claude.”
Andy’s response? “Okay.”
Because he already made more money from the recurring SaaS fee than he would have from the one-time service.
That’s the power of being the bridge.

Wispr Flow turns your voice into clean, professional text you can send the moment you stop talking. No rough transcription you have to clean up. Actual polished text, ready for email, Slack, or any app.

The Biggest Mistakes People Make with HighLevel
Andy broke down the two biggest mistakes he sees people make – and these apply whether you’re using HighLevel OR reselling it:
For Resellers: The #1 mistake is not supporting your customers. People sell the software, hand over the login, and say “good luck, keep paying me!” Then they wonder why churn is high. If you’re going to be the bridge, you have to onboard, educate, and support. (This is actually what Andy’s agency, GHL Engine, does for other agencies – handling onboarding, support, and even sales under their brand.)
For Users: Trying to use every single feature. HighLevel has hundreds (if not thousands) of features. Trying to master them all is impossible – and it’s a huge distraction from actually growing your business. Instead, solve problems one by one. Pick the feature that solves your biggest bottleneck, implement it, then move to the next.
Classic shiny object syndrome – and I see it with YouTube Ads strategies too. Focus on what moves the needle & ignore the rest.
Where HighLevel (& AI) is Going
Andy’s prediction on where this is all heading was fascinating. He sees a future where you’ll literally be able to pick up your phone in your car & say:
“How many leads do I have in the funnel right now?”
→ “You have 342 leads.”
“How many have purchased from me in the past?”
→ “34 of those 342.”
“Great, send them an email about my webinar on Friday.”
→ “Drafting email… email sent.”
That’s agentic AI running your CRM for you. And it’s closer than you think.
The question is – are you positioning your business to BE the bridge to that technology, or are you going to try to compete with it?

My Big Takeaway for You
If I could sum up the entire conversation into one actionable insight for you, it would be this:
Look at your business right now and ask – “Am I the taxi driver or am I the bridge?”
If you’re trading time for money on one-off services, start thinking about how you can productize, white-label, or build a recurring revenue stream around the technology your clients already need.
AI isn’t the threat. Being on the wrong side of AI is the threat.
And when you position yourself as the bridge between your clients & the latest technology, you don’t just survive the AI shift – you thrive because of it.
That’s the kind of thinking that builds businesses that last.
